If a BCP does not already exist, it will be necessary to initiate the preparation of the first version of such a plan. In order to initiate a BCP Project for the first time, the Board and/or top management would normally receive a proposal from the management to undertake such a project. Projects as important as BCP development should be approved at Board level to ensure that the required level of commitment of resources and management attention is applied to the process.
The proposal should present the reasons for undertaking a BCP Project, and could include some or all of the following:
