One of the first tasks is to determine whether an actual or pending crisis is likely to become sufficiently serious to require the evacuation of staff. All organisations should have tested procedures for handling the evacuation processes and also for maximising the safety of the employees.
If a serious emergency situation has already occurred which has caused injury or loss of life or damage to premises or equipment, then the Disaster Recovery Team should be mobilised immediately.
Criteria for determining whether a potential disaster situation exists could include the following:
